UTAS CAREERHUB TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Student Leadership and Careers (SLC) and UTAS CareerHub
a. UTAS CareerHub is an online system used by SLC to advertise employment opportunities and events to students, graduates and staff of the University of Tasmania.
b. Employers may advertise vacancies on the CareerHub at any time throughout the year. Vacancies may be full-time, part-time or casual.
c. SLC reserves the right to accept, alter or reject registrations, vacancies and event advertisements on UTAS CareerHub.
d. SLC reserves the right to refuse any person or organisation use of this service.
2. All job advertisements submitted to UTAS CareerHub must comply with all relevant Australian and State laws including privacy, fair trading, trade practices and anti-discrimination laws.
3. SLC requires all advertisers to provide the following information:
a. The name of the organisation or individual advertising the job vacancy.
b. The name of a contact person.
c. The address and phone number of the organisation, individual or contact person.
d. An adequate description of the nature of the work being offered.
e. An appropriate rate of pay, or reference to a relevant award or job classification
f. Employers are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of their contact details, advertisement content and deadline dates for applications
4. Special conditions for recruitment agencies and other third party recruiters.
a. Third party recruiters must provide the name of the client organisation to SLC, if requested to do so.
b. SLC will not disclose the name of the client organisation to anyone unless required to do so by law.
c. Third party recruiters must submit genuine job vacancies only.
5. Types of acceptable advertisements for employment include, but may not be limited to:
a. Part-time, casual, contract or full time paid employment;
b. Volunteer opportunities;
c. Work experience/ work placement/ internship opportunities;
d. Graduate recruitment and vacation employment;
e. International employment vacancies; and
f. Employment scholarships and cadetships.
6. Voluntary Work
a. Preference will be given to voluntary work offered by not-for-profit and community organisations.
b. The work must be of relevance to industries or professions that are available to graduates.
c. All positions/opportunities will be subject to approval by SLC staff before being advertised to students.
d. Any fee-paying voluntary or internship programs must clearly indicate this in the job title and description
7. SLC will not accept the following advertisements
a. Commission-only jobs.
b. Private Babysitting or Nanny jobs.
c. Doorknocking fundraiser jobs.
d. Work involving any illegal activity
e. Any work which requires the employee to purchase a product or service, or offer a security deposit or similar as a condition of employment.
f. Any advertisement not advertising a genuine employment opportunity.
8. SLC reserves the right to alter, withdraw or reject any advertisement where
a. Non-compliance with these terms and conditions has occurred
b. Misleading or incorrect information has been provided
c. Complaints about the advertiser have been received; or
d. The job opportunity or event is considered to be inappropriate.
a. The SLC will be under no liability to users and recruiters in respect of any loss or damage (including consequential loss or damage) which may be suffered or incurred or which may arise directly or indirectly in respect of services supplied by SLC.
b. Advertisers must indemnify SLC and its staff against all claims, actions, suits, costs and expenses incurred on any account as a result of their advertisement.
c. Employers advertising on CareerHub must abide by our Terms and Conditions for Employers. SLC staff check that all opportunities featured on UTAS CareerHub comply with our Terms & Conditions, however, we do not accept responsibility for advertisers who provide inaccurate, misleading or false information.
d. SLC does not necessarily recommend or endorse any organisations or service providers featured on CareerHub.
e. SLC does not act as an agent for the employer.
f. Employers agree that all information they provide in their advertisement does not breach any law or the rights of any person (including but not limited to legislation regarding Fair Trading, Equal Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and Human Rights).
10. Other information.
a. Employers who do not have the facility to enter their own vacancies are advised to email email@example.com to have their vacancy placed on CareerHub. In this instance, employers must inform SLC as soon as the vacancy has been filled so the advertisement can be removed from CareerHub.
b. All submitted job advertisements need to be approved by SLC staff before being made available for access by students and graduates. Advertisements are processed during business hours, except for University holidays and public holidays.
c. SLC may use employers' contact details to:
- update them about UTAS CareerHub
- clarify job or event details with them
- alert them to other services to facilitate recruitment
- send career-related/ employment notices
- undertake labour market research
- ask questions to assist us in managing the UTAS CareerHub service
